500!

Today is Knitting Project of the Day's 500th post! Today I want to honor my follows, readers and fellow knitters who have enjoyed my free knitting patterns. I spend some time on Ravelry (username ChemKnitsBlog), where I love seeing finished ChemKnits projects. I don't think I'll ever stop feeling excited when I see a newly uploaded photo. Thank you everyone for making my blogging activities a success.

I have started a new group on Ravelry called ChemKnits Designs. If you would like to chat with me about my designs, or anything else fiber related I would love to hear from you!

I started KPOTD because friends and family kept sending me amazing knitting projects, and I wanted an outlet to share them with the world. I felt (and still feel) that every kind of fiber artist a place of honor, not just designers. Through these 500 KPOTD posts, I have begun to notice some changes to how I find projects. Last March I created a ChemKnits Facebook page, and since then I've found myself sharing amazing knitting feats as I find them immediately. It seems silly for me to share something on KPOTD that I've already shared on Facebook.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that I will no longer be publishing amazing knitting projects daily here on KPOTD. (Don't worry, ChemKnits isn't going anywhere! ) I will continue to share amazing knitting projects on Facebook and/or Google+ as I find them, but not daily since they can no longer be scheduled in advance. Thank you for your faithful readership!

Ghast Knitting Chart

I think that the Minecraft Ghasts are so cute.... when they aren't throwing fireballs. Sure, they scare me and I never EVER go into the Nether, but I think that as a design they are adorable.

17 rows x 16 columns

I hope that you enjoyed this series of Minecraft Knitting Charts! I haven't made a chart for every character in the series. Is there a character that I left out that you would like to see? Let me know and I'll see what I can do. I have some ideas for incorporating these Minecraft Charts into more complex knitting designs, hopefully you'll see them in the future!

Minecraft Chicken Knitting Chart

Of the Minecraft themed knitting charts I've shared so far, the chicken is the only one that does not have a square face. The two right squares on the bottom row should be the same as your background color.

Cow Knitting Charts

Mooo! I think the Minecraft cows are so adorable, that I made two different versions of this Minecraft knitting chart.

What do you think is coming next in this series of Minecraft Knitting Charts?

Pig Knitting Chart

My Minecraft experiences only started recently, but my understanding of the pig is that they used to be way more important than they are now. While pork was once the only source of meet, you now have chicken and beef... and with beef you get leather, too. Nevertheless, these little pigs are darling and are the only creatures that you can ride!

Sheep Knitting Chart

Are you surprised that the first friendly mob Minecraft knitting chart I share with you is the sheep? One of this first things I created in my personal Minecraft game was a sheep farm with all of the different colors... if only I could start knitting in the game (just kidding!)

8x8 sts

I would recommend knitting this in the white, brown and pink and then using duplicate stitches for the white and black eyes. I have chosen to show the body of the sheep as a pale grey to give you the easy option to make the wool a different color from the eyes.

Zombie Knitting Chart

8x8 sts

Grrrrrrr..... I love zombies, and the Minecraft zombie is no exception. The official image has many shades to make the zombie face, but I reduced it to a total of three colors to make it easier to incorporate into your knitting.

I hope you are enjoying this series of Minecraft Knitting Charts! Stay tuned for some more friendly faces.

Minecraft Skeleton Knitting Chart

When playing Minecraft, I really like the skeleton mobs. Sure, they may hit you with lots of arrows, but they usually don't push you off anything (or explode behind you!) I chose this face as the second Minecraft Knitting Chart to share with you because it also makes a great knitting chart with only two colors in the face.

Creeper Knitting Chart

I have been playing a lot of Minecraft lately, and love the pixelated graphics. Why? Well this makes them easy to adapt into knitting charts! I am pleased to share the first free knitting pattern to be hosted on KPOTD, a Creeper Knitting Chart.

10x10 sts

Most of the Minecraft graphics have many different shades in them. In the future characters knitting charts that I will share, I will do my best to minimize the number of colors so you can use as few colors at a time as possible. The creeper would look best (most authentic) if you use a variegated green yarn for the background.

When will you see the other characters? Well I will be publishing 7 other popular Minecraft character knitting charts this week! Who do you think you will see tomorrow?

Coat Check Scarf

What do you do with your gloves when you go to a resteraunt? Do you keep them with you at the table or put them in your coat pockets and hope they don't fall out in the coat check.

With the following scarf, you have no reason to worry. The Coat Check Scarf is a cowl formed by a long pocket so you can safely put your mittens or gloves inside the scarf over a hanger.
You can purchase this pattern for $2.50 through Ravelry.

Hand Knit Christmas Stockings

One of my favorite knitting projects are hand knit Christmas Stockings. The three stockings featured in the picture above are of my own design, but you can easily combine different elements from different patterns to create your own custom Christmas stocking.

Merry Christmas, from ChemKnits and the editors of KPOTD.
