Knitlympics - Knit Your Favourite Sports Star

Knitlympics: Knit Your Favourite Sports Star looks like such a fun book. It has been published in preparation of the UK summer 2012 Olympics.

"Includes patterns for 20 Olympic icons, from ancient Greece to London 2012. You don’t have to be athletic to knit your own lighting-fast Usain Bolt, mustachioed Mark Spitz or sparrow-like Olga Korbut."

We've Got You Covered

Do you knit but have always wanted to crochet? The free eBook We’ve Got You Covered: 25 Crochet & Knit Throws from Red Heart Yarn has two lovely knitting patterns and 23 crochet patterns that is enough to tempt any knitter to convert. I picked up Itty-Bitty Hats: cute and cuddly caps to knit for babies and toddlers by Susan B. Anderson from the library last week, and it is filled of adorable baby knits. I could not help myself, so I cast on a project immediately even though I had only checked out the book to review it! (

Lace Crochet Books

When I think of crochet, my mind immediately goes to lace. I am not sure if it because I watched my aunt craft a crochet lace tablecloth, or because of the crochet doilies that I have inherited from my female ancestors... but to me crochet and lace go hand in hand. I have only started learning how to crochet, but I love reading through crochet lace books. These books of delicate patterns inspire me to work harder to learn this craft. You should check them out!

Lace Knitting Books

Recently I have gotten into knitting lace. I prefer to knit by reading from charts anyway, but I am not sure what intimidated me about lace knitting. A craft that appeared intimidating is actually easier, and faster knits, than it appears. Knitting laces shawls goes so much faster than knitting afghans because even though you are knitting with thin yarn, you tend to use very large needles and the pattern changes frequently enough to keep your interest. If you don't believe me, then tempt yourself by reading this article that reviews a number of lace knitting books.

Teach Yourself Visually Knitting Design

Teach Yourself Visually Knitting Design: Working from a Master Pattern to Fashion Your Own Knits is a book that every knitter should have in their personal library. While this book is more about original design than adaptation, there are stitch numbers that can help you convert a pattern for an adult to a baby. It is a handy resource to quickly calculate from your gauge swatch how many stitches you should cast on for that hat.

I own this book, and you should, too!
