Who are the Twilight Taggers?

Whenever I am doing research on yarn bombing for new KPOTD posts, I find the most amazing projects done by the Twilight Taggers.

Bali, the fiber artist behind the Twilight Taggers, is located in Melourne Australia and designs these incredible projects. You can contact her if you are interested in commissioning a project. I wonder how many other people are involved, or if she does all of the knitting herself. Today it is not about a single piece of work, but about Bali's collection. Formulas for Dyeing Yarn with Food Coloring

Want to know how to mix colors? The website DyeYourYarn.com has come up with many different color recipes based off of KoolAid and food coloring. I like the McCormick Dye Formulas because this is the dye I use the most frequently. I will have to refer to this website in the future as I am planning out my colors.

I love helping people learn how to knit, but I have limitations... I don't know how to knit left handed! I tried to help my roommate knit, but so many things were backwards I was not able to provide sufficient guidance.

It turns out that there are resources out there dedicated completely to left handed knitters! KnittingLeft.com has video tutorials and forums where lefty knitters can get together to share resources.

WW2 Knitting - Then and Now

Top Websites for Men who knit

Sarah E. White assembled a great list of knitting resources geared specifically at men, "Here's a quick look at some of the best websites, blogs and historical information related to men and knitting. " The list featured knitting blogs run by men.

Men Who Knit

I came across the website Men who Knit "Promoting and inspiring the art of knitting amongst men" while I was searching for male knitters. The site has forums and hosts some blogs run by male knitters. You should take a peak around! (There are women on the site, so don't think you're not allowed to join if you are female.)

AllFreeKnitting

When I went to write what I love about AllFreeKnitting.com, I found that they summed it up very well themselves:

"Variety makes things exciting and AllFreeKnitting has the right thing for your next knitting adventure."

At AllFreeKnitting.com, you will find free knitting patterns that have ratings based on difficulty in addition to an image of the product. In addition to patterns, you will find free help in the form of written, and video tutorials. I recently began working with AllFreeKnitting to create some video tutorials, and I highly recommend that you take the time to check them out!

Knitting Pattern Central

Knitting Pattern Central is my go to knitting directory when I am looking for free knitting patterns. It has the simplest format of any knitting pattern directory you can find, you will find links to free patterns arranged alphabetically. The upside is that you have access to a lot of patterns immediately, the downside is that there are no descriptions of these patterns.

I love checking out the new patterns, which is updated a few times a week. This is a great way to check out the newest patterns out there. (Yes, I submit my patterns, so you will find some ChemKnits designs in this directory!)

Ravelry - A Community for Knitters and Crocheters

Ravelry is a knitter's dream. It allows you to organize all of your knitting activities: your stash, your projects, a queue of projects you want to make, an easy way to search for knitting patterns and much more. As a knitting designer, it is a great way to feature my patterns AND see images of the people who knit them!

In the widget to the right, you should see a slide show of my completed projects. On each project page I can input the yarn I used, the needle size I used, how much yarn the project required and any notes I have about the construction. This data is then compiled so someone could, for example, search for projects done in a particular brand of yarn. The possibilities are endless!

It is free to sign up for Ravelry, and I highly recommend that you give it a try. Suddenly organizing your knitting life became so much easier!

I am glad that I started writing ChemKnits before I discovered Ravelry, or I may not be where I am today as a blogger!

The Daily Knitter

The Daily Knitter's Free Knitting Pattern of the Day is part of what inspired me to start this blog. I wanted there to be a platform to feature knitting projects that were more than just patterns. I am thrilled to "return the favor" to The Daily Knitter and feature them as the first ever knitting project of the day (KPOTD).

Welcome to the launch of KPOTD! I promise that this is not an April fools joke. Every day I will feature some kind of knitting project, whether it is a pattern, website, finished project, video or even just a photo. If you know of something knitting related that is pretty awesome, feel free to submit it for KPOTD consideration.
