Some Like it Hot

I never loved knitting with plastic knitting needles, and I got rid of all of the ones I had many years ago. If only I had come across the shop of SewNewThings sooner! They create bangle bracelets out of vintage knitting needles. What a great gift for the knitter in your life.

May the Yarn be With You

What do you use as inspiration when you select colors to dye yarn? Why not use Star Wars characters as inspiration like haldecraft?

You can preorder these Star Wars themed yarns for May 4, 2012.

Knit Lighting

Reshape Studio is so amazing that I need to feature this artist a second time on KPOTD. This cable knit lamp is something that I would need to have in my future knitting studio! Buy one for yourself through her etsy store.

I cannot say enough about the beauty of the creations by ashflowers2. She knits these pieces individually before casting them in silver, resulting in amazing lacy earrings, bracelets and more. These would make a great gift for the knitter in your life!

Self Patterning Yarn

Did you love those Ghost socks that I shared with you yesterday? I mentioned the secret to the socks is self patterning yarn, designed by KnitPurlGurl.

She is currently out of her stock of yarn (at least as of the time when I was writing this post.) But will offer skeins for pre-order. Each set of yarn comes with the pattern so you can get the patterning to happen correctly.

The self patterning shapes include Watermelons, Santas, Ghosts, Mushrooms, and much more.

I really wish I knew how to make these patterns since I love dyeing yarn of my own. Of course, I don't expect the designer to share her secrets!

Sheeping Beauty

Today I am going to feature an Etsy seller (Sheeping Beauty), because her shop is full of products I wish I could create.

I've admired handspun skeins of yarn for a long time, not just because of the craft itself, but of the colorways that you can create with hand plyed yarn. Since I've started dyeing yarn, the effect of hand spun yarn is something I've been dyeing (haha) to acheive. I even researched custom spinners to see if I would be able to find someone to spin wool that I dyed for me.

Sheeping Beauty, I really admire your craft and the beautiful yarns you've created.
